Portrait of Vartan Zadoian and an unidentified woman, Tiflis c. 1917-1918. The sitters are posed close together, and the woman leans her head on Vartan's shoulder, unlike the more formal portraits from this era.

Vartan Zadoian ran an orphanage in Aintab, and would travel throughout the Middle East in search of Armenian orphans who were "adopted" by Turkish and Kurdish families.

This photo is one of the many power images selected for this year's calendar "Change," which reflects the concept of change that Project SAVE has experienced this past year.
